The Winner of “Ph. D. Dissertation Award 2010″ granted every year by the Polish Communication Association is Dr Agnieszka Turska-Kawa, the author of thesis”Feeling of Alienation and Media Usage”, written under the academic supervision of dr hab. Stanisław Michalczyk, professor at the Silesian University and dr hab. Iwona Jakubowska-Branicka, professor at the University of Warsaw.

Dr Agnieszka Turska-Kawa is an assistant professor in the Social Communication Department at the Silesian University. She has graduated psychology and political science at the University, as well as the Inter-University Individual Ph.D. Studies of the Artes Liberales Academy. Agnieszka Turska-Kawa is an author of numerous publications on psychology of communication and political psychology. She has been a coordinator and participant of several domestic grants. Her scientific interests focus on psychological determinants of mass communication, political psychology (personal determinants of electoral behavior particularly) and interpersonal communication.
Dr Agnieszka Turska – Kawa is a member of the local board of the Polish Political Science Association in Katowice, the Polish Communication Association, the Polish Mediation Centre, and a member of the foundation committee of the Research Initiatives Association. In 2010 she received the Award of the Rector of Silesian University for her scientific activity and work for the academic community.
