Publications

of Polish Communication Association

The Polish Communication Association (PTKS) is growing as a publisher of scientific journals and books in the field of social communication and media studies.

The association’s most important publishing project is the scientific journal “Central European Journal of Communication” https://www.cejc.ptks.pl/ . The fact that the bi-annual periodical is issued in English is meant to emphasize the growing importance of communication and media sciences in central Europe and other regions of the world. The editorial board aims to promote the development of theoretical and empirical research, including diverse methodological approaches. The journal also publishes book reviews, notes on research, conference reports, interviews with scholars and communication and media practitioners.

Since 2019 PTKS is also the publisher of the electronic scientific periodical “Com.press” https://compress.edu.pl/pl/ , which has two issues a year. Primarily young communication and media theorists are invited to publish in the periodical. “Com.press” is being drawn up in cooperation with the Institute of Journalism, Media and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University https://media.uj.edu.pl/ and the publisher ToC https://toc-editions.com/ .

In 2017 the association started releasing their PTKS series, devoted to issues on social communication and media. The books document the scientific accomplishments of the PTKS conferences. In 2019 the first book of the series, that is an outcome of the editorial board’s activity and the work of research sections through which the association operates, was published. Every volume in the series is intended to be a piece of the mosaic that maps the field of research on social communication and media.

The association cooperates with prestigious publishing houses that offer publications on social communication and media, including:  Academic and Professional Publishing (Wydawnictwa Akademickie i Profesjonalne), Polish Scientific Publishers PWN (Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN), Jagiellonian University Press (Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego), AFM Publishing House (Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM) and Adam Marszałek Publishing House (Wydawnictwo Adam Marszałek). All the above-mentioned publishers issue books that are the culmination of projects and scientific events organized by the PTKS.

Since its beginnings, the association has been monitoring the market for national publications on social communication and media. The result is a literature review of the years 2007-2018. An online repository of the field is currently being prepared.

The publishing series of the Polish Communication Association is devoted to issues on social communication and media. The books document the scientific accomplishments of PTKS conferences. They introduce most recent scientific considerations and empirical findings of scholars of social communication and media and related disciplines. Each volume is published both in print and as an electronic version, the second one available open access.
